Frequently Asked Questions

Is LCYBS still going to have a volunteer fee? Yes, LCYBS will continue the volunteer fee for the Recreational Leagues. This fee will stay at $50 and can be recovered by volunteering for certain approved duties during the season. There will be ample opportunity for families to earn their refund while helping ensure the success of our youth baseball and softball programs. Each family will be charged the fee (once per family regardless of number of children participating) at time of, and in addition to the cost of, online player registration. Refunds by check will be made at the end of the season for those families satisfying their volunteer comittment (to be determined by commissioners). For those families wishing not to volunteer, a volunteer fee "buy out" option will be available during online registration.

Registration requires I pay with a credit card. Does LCYBS store my credit card number? No, although our payment gateway is secure, credit card numbers are not stored on the LCYBS site or within our database. This is done to help ensure the security of all registrants. It is for this reason that any refunds after the time of payment are provided via check.

It has been rainy. How do I know if my field is playable? After 4PM each day, you can visit our website and click on the Field Conditions & Locations link to see if specific fields are not playable. If your field is not listed in that section, your game will go on as scheduled. In the event that all games are cancelled due to weather, a marquee will scroll across the top of each page of this site indicating the cancellation.

How can I help? There are a variety of volunteer options from which to choose during registration. These include Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Photo Night Help, Parade Help, All Star Weekend duites, Year End Tournament duties, and Board Member. If you are interested in more information about these options, please contact any LCYBS Board Member.

Where does our fee go? Upgrades and replacement of player equipment such as helmets, maintenance and upkeep of our fields, umpires clinic, coaches clinic, etc... Also, each player receives a team shirt and a Major League Baseball cap.

Can siblings play together? Yes, unless noted otherwise.

What about coaching? Each team needs a Head coach and up to three Assistant coaches.

How are children split by grades? Kids will be divided into teams equally by grade. The teams need to be balanced with the same number of players from each eligible grade.

How many players per team? 13 Players per team.

How do you group the children? Players are grouped by school, where possible.

Can I make requests and suggestions for which team my child plays on? Yes, requests and suggestions are welcome. We will accomodate as much as we can.

Can I form my own team? No one can form their own team 100%. This means a parent cannot organize 13 kids and enter as a team.
